These paper experiments emerged by inviting surprise and play, and disinviting judgement and control. What happens when paper pulp is poured onto an old window screen? Can the wet pulp capture the delicate pattern of a crocheted doily? Will the paper receive pigment from the marbling bath? Perhaps a new project or work will emerge from these trials—perhaps not. For now, I’m enjoying the topographies and landscapes that have emerged entirely on their own from pulp and pigment knitting themselves together. Created in the days surrounding the election, these joyful experiments also served as a reminder to slow down, to notice, to keep trying, and to ask, "What could happen if...?"
