I begin each morning by listening to the news. In 2022/23 the headlines were dominated by the war in Ukraine. This was my inspiration for " So Many Seeds". I had frequent conversations about the war and the book with French colleague Claire Fouquet. Claire came to Philadelphia to collaborate. This Jacob's ladder, has four views. One side illustrates weapons of war which evolve from sunflower seeds. Sunflowers, symbolizing Ukraine, are on the reverse side. By flipping the Jacob's ladder, text suggesting destruction and resilience is revealed. The images are printed relief. The text is printed digitally.
