Pandemic Times: Lessons I Have Learned

As it did for many, the pandemic turned my life around. Beyond the given of avoiding routines I took for granted—going to the store, interacting with people face to face, being able to travel—my biggest concern was the fear of not knowing how to keep safe. So, I turned to my 10’ x 14’ center city backyard as a refuge from a world that every day felt threatening in a new way. My time gardening has helped me to breathe deeply, take my time, take small chances, and accept that not everything is in my control. It is a hard but good lesson to learn in these pandemic times.
